Assam University, Silchar has released an official notification for the recruitment of Guest Faculty positions in the Department of Physics. These engagements are on a purely temporary basis to meet the academic requirements of the University. Remuneration: Rs. 1,500/- per lecture with a monthly ceiling of Rs. 50,000/-
Eligibility Criteria:
Option A: A Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. The candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or CSIR, or similar accredited tests like SLET/SET. Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC Regulations (2009 or 2016) are exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement. Ph.D. candidates registered prior to July 11, 2009, are also exempted, provided their degree was awarded in regular mode, the thesis was evaluated by two external examiners, an open viva voce was conducted, and they have published two research papers and presented two papers in conferences/seminars. NET/SLET/SET is not required for disciplines in which these tests are not conducted.

Option B: The Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in the World University Ranking (QS, THE, or ARWU) at any time.

Eligible candidates must bring the following to the interview:
(i) Duly filled-in prescribed application form
(ii) Self-attested copies of all supporting documents (Educational qualifications, NET/SLET/Ph.D. certificates, etc.)
Selection Procedure: The selection will be based strictly on the performance in the Walk-in Interview. Academic scores as specified in UGC regulations (Appendix II) will be used for short-listing candidates for the interview only.

Interested and eligible candidates may directly attend the walk-in interview on 07-01-2026 at 12 Noon at the Office of the Head, Department of Physics, Assam University, Silchar. Candidates must carry their prescribed application form and all supporting documents for verification.
Note: No TA/DA shall be paid for attending the interview.
