The Office of the Directorate General Assam Rifles, Shillong has released the notification for Assam Rifles Technical and Tradesman Recruitment Rally 2026. According to the official recruitment notice, applications are invited from eligible candidates for 354 vacancies in various Technical and Tradesman posts. The recruitment rally is tentatively scheduled to begin from 23 November 2026 onwards.

Eligible candidates can submit their applications online only through the Assam Rifles recruitment website. The online application process is scheduled to remain open until 28 October 2026, up to 11:59 PM. The online application server is scheduled to be functional from 28 September 2026.

Assam Rifles Recruitment 2026 Vacancy Details:

A total of 354 vacancies have been notified under the Assam Rifles Technical and Tradesman Recruitment Rally 2026. The vacancies are distributed among different Technical and Tradesman posts. The notification provides the following post-wise vacancy details:

Assam Rifles Recruitment 2026 Educational Qualification:

The educational qualification differs according to the trade/post. Candidates should carefully check the qualification prescribed for the particular trade for which they intend to apply.

For technical trades such as Electrical Fitter Signal, Lineman Field, Armourer, Engineer Equipment Mechanic, Recovery Vehicle Mechanic, Electrician Motor Vehicle, Instrument Mechanic, Metalsmith, Upholster, Store Keeper Technical, Vehicle Mechanic and Welder, the notification generally prescribes Class 10/Matriculation along with relevant technical/trade training or ITI/Diploma qualifications, depending upon the particular trade.

(i) Warrant Officer (Cipher): For Warrant Officer (Cipher), candidates must have passed 10+2/Intermediate examination in Science with Physics, Mathematics and English from a recognised Board/Institution, along with the prescribed technical qualification/degree or diploma requirements mentioned in the notification. The age limit is generally 18 to 25 years, subject to applicable relaxation.

(ii) Rifleman (Electrical Fitter Signal): Candidates must have passed Class 10/Matriculation and possess the prescribed technical training qualification, such as relevant Industrial Training Institute/trade qualification or the specified diploma/technical qualification in the relevant field.

(iii) Rifleman (Lineman Field): The post requires Class 10/Matriculation along with the relevant technical training qualification in the prescribed electrical/electronics/technical field, as specified in the notification.

(iv) Rifleman (Armourer): For Armourer, candidates are required to have passed Class 10/Matriculation and possess the prescribed Industrial Training Institute certificate in the relevant trade.

(v) Rifleman (Recovery Vehicle Mechanic): Candidates must have passed 10th/Matriculation and possess the relevant technical qualification/training for Motor Vehicle or Recovery Vehicle Mechanic. The notification also specifies the requirement of an appropriate driving licence where applicable.

(vi) Rifleman (Electrician Motor Vehicle): Candidates must have passed Class 10/Matriculation and possess the prescribed technical/trade training qualification in the relevant electrical/motor vehicle field.

(vii) Other Technical Trades: For posts including Instrument Mechanic, Metalsmith, Upholster, Rifleman Store Keeper Technical, Vehicle Mechanic and Welder, the notification specifies Class 10/Matriculation together with the respective trade/technical qualification. Candidates should check the exact trade-specific qualification before submitting the application.

(viii) Warrant Officer (Draughtsman): For Draughtsman, the notification prescribes 10+2 or equivalent along with a three-year Diploma in Architectural Assistantship from a recognised Polytechnic College or Institution. The age limit mentioned is 18 to 25 years, subject to applicable relaxation.

(ix) Warrant Officer (Operation Theatre Technician): Candidates for Operation Theatre Technician must have passed 10+2 with the prescribed qualification/training in Operation Theatre Technology and the required experience/certificate as specified in the notification. The prescribed age range is 18 to 25 years, with applicable relaxations.

(x) Warrant Officer (Physiotherapist): Candidates for Physiotherapist must have passed 10+2 and possess the prescribed Diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognised institution, along with the required experience in the specified hospital/physiotherapy setting. The age limit is 18 to 25 years, subject to applicable relaxation.

(xi) Rifleman (Mason): For Mason, candidates must have passed 10th/Matriculation from a recognised Board and possess the required trade qualification/experience in Mason work as prescribed in the notification. The age limit is generally 18 to 23 years, with applicable relaxation for eligible categories.


Assam Rifles Recruitment 2026 Age Limit:

The cut-off date for determining age is 1 July 2026. The age limit varies according to the post/trade, with several trades carrying an age limit of 18 to 23 years, while certain Warrant Officer posts have an age limit of 18 to 25 years. The notification also provides higher upper-age limits for eligible departmental candidates and applicable reserved categories.


Age Relaxation:

Age relaxation is available to eligible candidates as per the recruitment rules.

SC/ST: 5 years

OBC: 3 years

Ex-Servicemen (UR): 3 years after deduction of military service rendered from actual age

Ex-Servicemen (OBC): 6 years after deduction of military service rendered

Ex-Servicemen (SC/ST): 8 years after deduction of military service rendered


Physical Standard Requirements:

Candidates must satisfy the prescribed physical standards for the recruitment. The notification specifies different height requirements depending on the candidate's region/category.

For candidates from most areas, the minimum height mentioned is 170 cm for male candidates and 157 cm for female candidates. For candidates belonging to specified regions and categories, the minimum height is relaxed to 165 cm for male candidates and 155 cm for female candidates. For Scheduled Tribe candidates, the prescribed minimum height is 162.5 cm for males and 150 cm for females.

The required chest measurement for male candidates also varies according to the applicable category/standard. Weight must be proportionate to height and age according to medical standards.

The notification also provides physical-standard relaxations for candidates belonging to specified communities/regions, including candidates from Assam and certain North-Eastern and other notified areas.


Selection Process:

The selection process for Assam Rifles Technical and Tradesman Recruitment Rally 2026 consists of several stages. Candidates must qualify at the applicable stages before proceeding to the next stage.

The recruitment process includes:

2. RFID Based Physical Standard Test (PST)

3. RFID Based Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

4. Documentation

5. Computer Based Test (CBT)

6. Trade/Skill Test

7. Detailed Medical Examination (DME) / Review Medical Examination (RME)

Candidates who qualify in the earlier stages will be considered for subsequent stages according to the recruitment rules and availability of vacancies.


Physical Efficiency Test:

The PET will be conducted for candidates who qualify in the initial document verification. For candidates from most of India, the notification prescribes a 5 km run to be completed within 24 minutes for male candidates. For candidates belonging to the Ladakh region, the prescribed requirement is 1.6 km within 7 minutes.


Computer Based Test:

The Computer Based Test will consist of 100 marks. The minimum qualifying marks are:

General/EWS candidates: 35%

SC/ST/OBC candidates: 33%


Trade Skill Test:

The Trade Skill Test will be conducted for Technical and Tradesman personnel. It will be based on a Computer Test and Specific Practical Skill Test relevant to the trade.

No marks will be awarded for the Trade Skill Test. Candidates who qualify the Trade Skill Test will become eligible for Document Verification and the medical examination. Shortlisting for the next stages will be based on merit in the Computer Based Test and the applicable vacancy ratio.


Medical Examination:

Candidates who reach the medical stage will undergo Detailed Medical Examination (DME). A Review Medical Examination (RME) may also be conducted as per the applicable rules and guidelines.


Application Fee:

The application fee for Group C posts is ₹100.

The notification states that the fee is to be deposited online by the candidate through the prescribed payment procedure. Candidates may also make payment through an SBI Bank Challan as specified in the notification.

Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories are exempted from payment of the application fee. The fee, once paid, is generally non-refundable.
