The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has released an official notification for the recruitment of District Museum Officer Grade-I (Gazetted) under the Directorate of Museums, Department of Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture, Government of Assam. Name of Post: District Museum Officer Grade-I (Gazetted)

Pay Scale: Rs. 30,000/- to Rs. 1,10,000/- per month

Grade Pay: Rs. 12,700/-

Pay Band: PB-4 Plus other allowances as admissible under Assam Government rules.

Eligibility Criteria:

Citizenship & Residency:
  • Candidate must be an Indian citizen as per Articles 5–8 of the Constitution of India.
  • Must be a permanent resident of Assam.

Educational Qualification:
Candidates must possess any one of the following qualifications:

(i) M.A. in Museology from a recognized university. Preference will be given to candidates with at least 1 month experience as an intern or in a curatorial role in a Government museum.
                                      OR
(ii) Post Graduate degree in History (Ancient) / Anthropology / Archaeology / Sanskrit from a recognized university. Preference will be given to candidates having a 1-year PG Diploma in Museology.

Age Limit (as on 01-01-2025):
Minimum Age: 21 years
Maximum Age: 38 years

Age Relaxation:

SC/ST: 5 years
OBC/MOBC: 3 years
Ex-Servicemen: Up to 50 years (additional relaxation as per rules)
PwBD: 10 years

General: Rs. 297.20 (Application Fee: Rs. 250 & Processing Fee: Rs. 47.20) 

OBC/MOBC: Rs. 197.20 (Application Fee: Rs. 150 & Processing Fee: Rs. 47.20)

SC/ST/BPL/PwBD: Rs. 47.20 (Application Fee: NIL & Processing Fee:  Rs. 47.20)

Selection Procedure:

The selection process will be decided by APSC and may include:

• Screening Test / Written Examination
• Viva-Voce / Interview
