The Indian Air Force (IAF) has released an official recruitment notification for the intake of Agniveervayu (Other Than Science Subjects) under the Agnipath Scheme. This recruitment drive provides a significant opportunity for young Indian men and women to serve the nation by joining one of the most prestigious armed forces in the country.

Through this rally recruitment, the Indian Air Force will enroll eligible candidates as Agniveervayu personnel for a four-year service period. During this time, candidates will receive military training, professional development, and financial benefits while serving the nation.

About the Agnipath Scheme:

The Agnipath Scheme is a recruitment model introduced by the Government of India to allow young individuals to serve in the armed forces for a short-term engagement period.


Under this scheme:

1. Selected candidates are enrolled as Agniveers.

2. They serve for four years in the armed forces.

3. They receive training, salary, and benefits during the service period.

4. After completing the four-year tenure, up to 25% of Agniveers may be selected for permanent enrollment in the armed forces depending on merit, performance, and organizational requirements.

Age Limit and Date of Birth Criteria:

Candidates applying for Agniveervayu recruitment must satisfy the age requirements set by the Indian Air Force.

The candidate must be born between:

02 July 2005 and 02 January 2009 (both dates inclusive).

Age eligibility is strictly verified using official documents such as birth certificates and educational certificates.


Marital Status Requirement:

1. Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible to apply for the Agniveervayu recruitment rally.

2. Candidates must submit an undertaking confirming that they will remain unmarried throughout the four-year engagement period.

3. If an Agniveervayu marries during the service period, they will be discharged from service.

4. Female candidates must also provide an undertaking confirming that they will not become pregnant during the engagement period.

5. Pregnancy during the service period will result in discharge from the Indian Air Force and ineligibility for further service. 


Educational Qualification:

Candidates applying under the Other Than Science Subjects category must meet one of the following educational criteria.

Option 1 – Intermediate / 10+2

Candidates must have passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination in any stream from a recognized board with:

Minimum 50% marks in aggregate

Minimum 50% marks in English


Option 2 – Two-Year Vocational Course

Candidates who have completed a two-year vocational course from a recognized education board must have:

Minimum 50% aggregate marks

Minimum 50% marks in English


Option 3 – Three-Year Diploma Course

Candidates who have completed a three-year diploma course in engineering from a recognized polytechnic institute may also apply.

Eligible diploma streams include:

(i) Mechanical Engineering

(ii) Electrical Engineering

(iii) Electronics Engineering

(iv) Automobile Engineering

(v) Computer Science

(vi) Instrumentation Technology

(vii) Information Technology


Candidates must have:

(i) Minimum 50% aggregate marks

(ii) Minimum 50% marks in English either in diploma or in intermediate/matriculation if English was not included in the diploma syllabus. 


Domicile Requirement:

Candidates must belong to districts specified for the recruitment rally and must produce a valid domicile certificate issued by the competent authority.

The domicile certificate must be issued by:

(i) A Gazetted Officer of the Revenue Department

(ii) An authorized official of the state government

Children of serving, retired, or deceased Indian Air Force personnel may also be eligible to participate provided they submit the required Children of Air Force Personnel certificate (COAFP) or relevant service documents. 


Physical Standards:

Candidates must meet the strict physical standards prescribed by the Indian Air Force.

A. Height Requirements

Minimum height requirements are as follows:

Male Candidates:

Minimum height: 152 cm


Female Candidates:

Minimum height: 152 cm


However, relaxation is provided in certain cases:

(i) Female candidates from North Eastern states or hilly regions of Uttarakhand: Minimum 147 cm

(ii) Candidates from Lakshadweep: Minimum 150 cm 


B. Weight

The candidate’s weight must be proportionate to height and age as per Indian Air Force medical standards.


C. Chest Measurement

For male candidates:

Minimum chest circumference: 77 cm

Chest expansion: minimum 5 cm


For female candidates:

The chest should be well proportioned

Minimum 5 cm expansion required. 


D. Hearing and Dental Standards

Candidates must meet the following standards:

(i) Normal hearing ability

(ii) Must be able to hear a forced whisper from 6 meters distance in each ear separately


E. Dental requirements include:

(i) Healthy gums and teeth

(ii) Minimum 14 dental points


F. Vision Standards

The Indian Air Force requires candidates to meet specific vision standards.

(i) Required visual acuity:

6/12 in each eye, correctable to 6/6


(ii) Maximum refractive error allowed:

Hypermetropia: +2.0 D

Myopia: –1.0 D


Colour vision must meet the CP-II standard.

Candidates who have undergone LASIK or PRK surgery are not eligible for this recruitment. 


G. Tattoo Policy

Permanent body tattoos are generally not allowed in the Indian Air Force.

However, tattoos may be permitted in limited areas:

Inner side of the forearms

Back side of the hand


Candidates belonging to tribal communities may be permitted tattoos according to traditional customs, provided they are not offensive or indecent. 


Pay Scale and Salary Structure:

Selected candidates will receive a monthly salary package under the Agnipath scheme.

Salary during the four-year service period:

1st Year: ₹30,000/- per month 

2nd Year: ₹33,000/- per month 

3rd Year: ₹36,500/- per month 

4th Year: ₹40,000/- per month 

A portion of the salary will be contributed to the Agniveer Corpus Fund, with an equal contribution from the Government of India.

At the end of four years, Agniveervayu personnel will receive approximately ₹10.04 lakh as Seva Nidhi package, excluding interest. 


Selection Process:

The recruitment process consists of several stages.

A. Physical Fitness Test (PFT):

PFT-I

Candidates must complete a 1.6 km run within the following time limits:

Male candidates: 7 minutes

Female candidates: 8 minutes


PFT-II

Candidates who qualify the run must perform additional physical activities such as:

Push-ups

Sit-ups

Squats

These exercises test the candidate’s strength and endurance.


B. Written Examination:

Candidates who clear the physical test must appear for a written examination conducted on the same day.

Exam details:

Duration: 45 minutes

Type: Objective type (OMR based)

Language: English and Hindi

Subjects included: English, Reasoning and General Awareness


Marking scheme:

(i) +1 mark for each correct answer

(ii) –0.25 marks for each incorrect answer

(iii) 0 marks for unanswered questions. 


C. Adaptability Test:

Candidates who qualify the written examination must undergo Adaptability Tests.

Adaptability Test I: This test evaluates whether the candidate can adapt to different geographic and environmental conditions.

Adaptability Test II: This test checks the candidate’s ability to adjust to military life and Air Force culture.


D. Medical Examination:

Candidates who pass all previous stages must undergo a detailed medical examination conducted by the Air Force Medical Team.

The examination includes:

Blood tests

Urine tests

ECG

Chest X-ray

Physical examination

Candidates declared medically unfit may apply for an Appeal Medical Board after paying the required fee. 


Provisional Select List:

After completion of all recruitment stages, a Provisional Select List (PSL) will be released.
