Tezpur University has released a recruitment advertisement for the engagement of 04 Field Assistants on a temporary basis under a DRDO-sponsored research project titled “Creation of Speech Corpora for Central Naga Languages for LID Task.” The recruitment will be conducted through a Walk-in Interview in blended mode.
Interested and eligible candidates can appear for the interview on 30 July 2026 at the Department of Linguistics and Language Technology, Tezpur University. Outstation candidates may be allowed to attend the interview online as a special case.

Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess a B.A./B.Sc. degree in Linguistics, English, or allied subjects.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
Candidates are expected to:
(i) Record speech data in the field, particularly in Nagaland.
(ii) Carry out IPA transcription of speech data whenever required.
(iii) Prepare basic grammatical and phonological structures of the target languages.
(iv) Candidates who are native speakers of the target languages and possess basic knowledge of Linguistics will be given preference.
Languages Covered Under the Project:
The project focuses on the creation of spontaneous speech corpora and lexical resources for the following Central Naga languages:
• Ao (Chungli)
• Angami
• Chokri
• Kheza
• Sangtam
• Pochuri
• Tikhir
• Yimkhiung
• Phom
• Chang
• Khiamniungan
The project aims to create speech corpora for spoken language recognition and compile commonly used lexical items along with their orthographic and semantic representations.
Salary: ₹20,000 per month
Duration of Engagement:
The appointment will initially be made for a period of one year or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The engagement may be extended further depending on:
(i) The performance of the selected candidate; and
(ii) The continuation of the research project.
Age Limit: The candidate must be below 35 years of age as on the date of the interview.
Tezpur University Recruitment 2026 Selection Process:
The selection of candidates will be made through a Walk-in Interview conducted by the Selection Committee/Interview Board.
The interview will be conducted in blended mode, meaning:
(i) Offline interview for eligible candidates appearing physically; and
(ii) Online interview may be permitted in special cases for outstation candidates.
