The Central Silk Board (CSB), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, has released a recruitment advertisement for eligible candidates for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Project Assistant (PA) positions under CSB-funded research projects.
A total of 2 vacancies are available, with 1 post each for Junior Research Fellow and Project Assistant. The appointments will be made under research projects related to climate-resilient Eri culture, Muga sericulture and Eri sericulture.
Eligible candidates can appear directly for the Walk-in Interview on 28 August 2026 at the CSB-Central Muga Eri Research & Training Institute (CSB-CMER&TI), Lahdoigarh, Jorhat, Assam. The interview will start from 9:30 AM.
1st Post: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Project Title: Collection, screening and identification of water logging tolerant castor (Ricinus communis) genotype for climate resilient Eri culture.
Project Duration: August 2026 to January 2029 (2.5 years)
Place of Posting: CSB-CMER&TI, Lahdoigarh, Jorhat, Assam
Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess a 1st Class M.Sc. in any branch of Life Sciences/Agricultural Sciences from a UGC-recognised university.
Desirable Qualification/Experience:
Candidates having specialization in any of the following areas will be preferred:
• Genetics and Plant Breeding
• Botany
• Biotechnology
• Physiology
• Biochemistry
Age Limit: The maximum age limit is 35 years as on the date of the notification.
Emoluments:
Rs. 21,000/- + HRA
Rs. 31,000/- + HRA with NET/GATE
2nd Post: Project Assistant (PA)

Project Title: Popularization of improved technologies for sustainable development of Muga sericulture in Assam, Meghalaya and Eri sericulture in Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.
Project Duration: August 2026 to July 2029 (3 years)
Place of Posting: CSB-Research Extension Centre, Lakhimpur, Assam
Educational Qualification:
Candidates must possess either:
(i) A three/four-year full-time degree, especially in Sciences (B.Sc.) with relevant subjects, OR
(ii) A three/four-year full-time B.Sc. degree in the relevant subject and PG Diploma in Sericulture.
Age Limit: The maximum age limit is 30 years as on the date of the notification.
Emoluments:
Rs. 15,000/- fixed for candidates without PGDS
Rs. 20,000/- fixed for candidates with PGDS
Age Relaxation:
Age relaxation will be provided as per applicable rules:
SC/ST: 5 years
Women: 5 years
Physically Challenged candidates: 5 years
OBC: 3 years
