The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has released an official notification inviting online applications for critical medical and laboratory support roles within the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). The SSB is looking to fill 76 temporary but likely-to-continue Group-'C' Non-Gazetted (Combatised) & Non-Ministerial positions.

Pay Scale and Benefits:
1. Head Constable (Laboratory Assistant & Physiotherapy Assistant): Level-4, Basic Pay Rs. 25,500 - 81,100/-.
2. Constable (Nursing Assistant cum Medic): Level-3, Basic Pay Rs. 21,700 - 69,100/-.
Allowances: Dearness Allowance, Ration Money Allowance, House Rent Allowance, and other admissible allowances per Government orders.
Pension: Covered under the Defined Contributory Pension Scheme (NPS) w.e.f. Jan 1, 2004, or the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) w.e.f. April 1, 2025.
Eligibility Criteria:
The crucial date for determining age and educational qualifications is the closing date of receipt of applications, which is 30 days from the date of publication of this advertisement in the Employment News.
1. Head Constable (Laboratory Assistant)
Age: 18 to 27 years.
Education & Experience: 12th class pass with Biology from a recognized Board. Must possess a minimum one-year certificate course in Laboratory Assistant Course and at least one year of working experience as a Lab Assistant in a Central/State Government recognized Diagnostic Centre, hospital, or institution lab.
2. Head Constable (Physiotherapy Assistant)
Age: 18 to 27 years.
Education & Experience: 12th class pass from a recognized Board. Must possess a minimum one-year certificate course in Physiotherapy and at least one year of experience as a Physiotherapy Assistant from a Physiotherapy Centre or minimum 100-bedded Government recognized hospital/institute.
3. Constable (Nursing Assistant cum Medic)
Age: 18 to 27 years.
Education & Experience: 10th class pass from a recognized Board. Must possess a First Aid certificate course from St. John's Ambulance Organization or Red Cross Society of India, and at least one year of experience as a Nursing Assistant in a minimum 50-bedded Government recognized Hospital or Institution.
Age Relaxations:
Age relaxations are applicable beyond the upper age limit:
SC/ST: 5 years.
OBC: 3 years.
Ex-Servicemen: 3 years after deduction of military service from actual age.
Other relaxations apply for Central Govt. Employees, candidates domiciled in J&K/Ladakh (1980-1989), and dependents of 1984 riot victims.
Selection Process:
The recruitment comprises a multi-stage selection process, with biometric verification (left and right thumb) occurring at all stages.
Stage I: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST)
PET for Head Constables: Male candidates must complete a 1.6 km race in 6 minutes 30 seconds, while female candidates must complete an 800-meter race in 4 minutes.
PET for Constables: Male candidates must complete a 4.8 km race in 24 minutes, while female candidates must run 2.4 km in 18 minutes.
Note: Ex-servicemen are exempted from the PET.
PST: Candidates must pass strict height and chest measurements. For general/UR/EWS/SC/OBC candidates, the prescribed minimum measurements recorded in the document state 155 cm (Male) and 165 cm (Female) for Height, with 75-80 cm Chest for Males. Specific relaxations apply to Scheduled Tribes and candidates from specific hilly/North-Eastern regions. Weight must be proportionate to height and age (assessed via BMI).
Stage II: Written Examination (Computer Based Test)
For Head Constables: A 3-hour exam of 150 marks. Part-I (50 marks) covers General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning, and General English/Hindi. Part-II (100 marks) focuses on the Technical Subject.
For Constables: A 2-hour exam of 100 marks focusing on General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning, and General English/Hindi.
Marking Scheme: +1 for every correct answer, and a negative marking of -0.25 for every incorrect answer.
Stage III: Documentation and Medical Examination
(i) Candidates up to 3 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted based on the written examination for Document Verification (DV) and Detailed Medical Examination (DME).
(ii) Final selection is purely based on the merit of the written exam.
